Reverend William L. Fisher is the Pastor of the historic Hosanna African Methodist Episcopal Church in Darlington, Maryland, located in Harford County. He has faithfully served the congregation since 2021 and brings more than nine years of pastoral ministry experience marked by passionate preaching, servant leadership, community engagement, and a deep commitment to spiritual growth.
Rev. Fisher answered his call to ministry in July 2006 while serving at Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Baltimore, Maryland. During his more than 30 years of service and spiritual formation at Bethel AME Church, he ministered under the leadership of two influential voices within the African Methodist Episcopal Church, Bishop John R. Bryant and Rev. Dr. Frank M. Reid III. Their leadership helped shape Rev. Fisher’s commitment to biblical preaching, discipleship, pastoral care, and transformational ministry.
In March 2007, Rev. Fisher received his license to preach through the Baltimore District Presiding Elder’s Quarterly Conference of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. Later that same year, he was admitted on trial in the Second Episcopal District Baltimore Annual Conference.
After earning his Bachelor of Science degree in 2011, Rev. Fisher was ordained as an Itinerant Deacon in the African Methodist Episcopal Church during the Baltimore Annual Conference of the Second Episcopal District.
Committed to theological education and lifelong learning, Rev. Fisher entered the Master of Divinity program at Payne Theological Seminary in Wilberforce, Ohio, in January 2013. While attending Payne Seminary, he served as President of the Student Government Association from 2014 to 2015. He completed his studies in 2015 and graduated in 2016. That same year, Rev. Fisher was ordained as an Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church during the Western North Carolina Conference in Durham, North Carolina.
Rev. Fisher received his first pastoral appointment at Mount Joy African Methodist Episcopal Church, where he faithfully served from 2017 to 2021. In 2021, he was appointed Pastor of the historic Hosanna African Methodist Episcopal Church.
Under Rev. Fisher’s leadership, Hosanna AME Church continues to strengthen its mission through worship, discipleship, community outreach, preservation of African American history, and innovative ministry initiatives that connect faith, education, leadership, and technology. His ministry vision emphasizes spiritual transformation, community empowerment, stewardship, and preserving the rich legacy of the church for future generations.
Rev. Fisher has been married to Mrs. LaVerne C. Fisher for 37 years. Together, they remain devoted to ministry, family, and serving the community with compassion, faith, and excellence.
