THE HIGH COST OF LOW LIVING
There is a lot going on in the world today. These events have been prophesied and experienced in one form or another before today. So, they should not take totally by surprise. After all, there is nothing new under the sun. However, we should not be insensitive, indifferent, or indecisive about where we as Christian stand on today's issues which challenge our faith, patience at times, world view, and the like.
As a believer, or non-believer what is your take, thought, opinion on the following?
“In the letter, written in Italian, a Polish priest criticizes the church for ‘persecuting’ and causing ‘immeasurable suffering’ to homosexual Catholics and their families. He says that after a ‘long and tormented period of discernment and prayer,’ he had taken the decision to ‘publicly reject the violence of the Church towards homosexual, lesbian, bisexual, transsexual and inter-sexual people.’ The 43-year-old says that while the Roman Catholic clergy is ‘full of homosexuals,’ it is also ‘frequently violently homophobic,’ and he calls on ‘all gay cardinals, gay bishops and gay priests [to] have the courage to abandon this insensitive, unfair and brutal Church.’ He says he can no longer bear the “homophobic hate of the Church, the exclusion, the marginalization and the stigmatization of people like me’, whose ‘human rights are denied’ by the Church.”
What are your thoughts on this letter? The author of it, is a disgruntle employee. He is the Polish priest was let go, defrocked by the Catholic Church, not for being homosexual, but for flaunting his homosexual lifestyle.
What are your thoughts on 1.) the letter he wrote, is there any truth to it? 2.) What do you think about homosexuality in the pulpit/ 3.) Does one's lifestyle trump the word of God, hence making the Word null and void? 4.) How does it make you feel and as a Christian when the church deals with homosexuality as if it's the cardinal and worst sin? Is homosexuality a sin, even?
It is probably true for the news has been full of like situations. But these are just people who want public opinion to give them permission to do what their flesh tells them to do. We should all read Colossians 3. I Corinthians 6:19, and II Timothy 3:3-9 This is the Word of God for the people that call them selves Children of God should adhere to. Gay or straight we must all bring into subjection the will of the flesh momemt by moment, day by day. Public Opinion won't get me to heaven.
